Board adopts recommended textbooks for Lifetime Wellness and CTE courses

The Fayette County Public Schools board approved textbook recommendations presented by textbook-adoption committees for Lifetime Wellness and Career & Technical Education (CTE) courses.
Mr. Keel reported that two committees reviewed materials: one committee reviewed Lifetime Wellness and the other reviewed CTE textbooks. Committees evaluated titles (some courses had only a single available title) and recommended adoption both for currently offered courses and for certain courses not now active so that materials will be on hand if those offerings resume.
Board discussion noted routine review processes and that the current adoption did not raise the sort of controversy seen in previous science-textbook adoptions. A motion to approve the textbook adoption passed unanimously.
Vote: Motion by Kevin Powers; second by Harold Rounds. All approved.
