Saranac Lake Downtown Advisory Board approves April report, seeks CEF volunteers and advances several downtown projects

The Village of Saranac Lake Downtown Advisory Board met May 14, 2026, approved its April monthly report and reviewed multiple downtown projects and next steps. Jerry Michael, a DAB member, opened the meeting and listed annual goals focused on Woodruff Street improvements, a Main Street Church-to-Pine pedestrian safety project, and a Riverside Park masterplan.
Jeremy Evans, introduced by Jerry Michael, was presented as the new Village Trustee and ex officio member of the advisory board. The board noted that the Community Enhancement Fund (CEF) committee requires two representatives from each advisory board and requested volunteers; Jerry Michael and Kathy Steinbrueck currently serve as DAB’s CEF representatives.
Members received a report from Mike Aguirre on a full tour of the new Pendragon theatre and agreed to add downtown parking to a future agenda, with a possible subcommittee to consider short- and long-term solutions for areas including the Lofts/Depot, Pendragon/Rivertail, and Romanos. A Main Street (Church-to-Pine) subcommittee meeting is scheduled for May 27; Jerry Michael will attend and report back.
There was no Community Development staff update because Bayle and Katrina were attending a conference. Village Board staff are reviewing advisory-board bylaws, online meeting-posting practices and attendance requirements; DAB was told meetings should be posted online at least one week in advance.
On project follow-ups recorded in the meeting notes, Jerry Michael will draft a letter for review by a person identified as Jimmy that would be sent to Franklin County requesting permission for the Village to paint the Dorsey and Woodruff Street bridges to match recent work on the Broadway Bridge. Jerry also agreed to sketch a concept plan for stairs from the Berkley parking lot to the library.
The board acknowledged a successful Village Clean Up Day on May 2 and praised recent crosswalk repainting downtown. No formal votes on capital projects or name changes were taken; several items were recorded as action items for future meetings.
