City manager reports debris found in Sandy Creek pumps; equalization basin may be needed

City Manager Frank Frazier updated the council in a work session on problems at the Sandy Creek pump station, reporting that staff found a large rock in one pump and a small block of wood in another. He said those items contributed to pump problems but that additional work is needed to stop overflows.
Mr. Frazier said flyers will be distributed to residents explaining cleanouts on private property and that staff may recommend construction of an equalization basin; if a basin is recommended, council and/or the appropriate committee(s) will meet to discuss options. He added that the Red Bud pump station is performing better.
The report did not authorize construction; it was an update and potential next steps include further study and committee consideration before any formal recommendation or funding request is presented to council.
