Engineer: North Adams Street bridge needs PennDOT structural sign-off before spring construction

Township Engineer Nick Perilli updated the Board on the North Adams Street Bridge project, saying local review of the roadway and detour plans is complete and that the contractor submitted those plans last week. Perilli said the bridge’s structural plans require PennDOT sign-off and are expected seven to ten days after the initial partial submission.

Perilli said he is urging both the contractor and PennDOT to keep the project on track and that once materials—particularly steel beams—are on site he expects roughly two to three months of construction. When Commissioner Robert Mohollen asked whether the project would affect a pipeline that runs across the bridge, Perilli said he did not believe the timing would interfere; he added that a temporary line could be run if necessary and noted the township must have that service back in operation by October.

Perilli described the schedule as dependent on the lead time for steel but said he is doing what he can to expedite sign-offs and get construction started this spring.
