Pottsgrove School District presents multisport stadium plan; district aims for fall 2027 opening

Lower Pottsgrove Township officials on March 19 reviewed a Pottsgrove School District presentation outlining a multisport stadium renovation intended to serve football, lacrosse, soccer and field hockey and to free up school-site space for other uses.
Loren Szczesny of Fox Rothschild introduced Scott Kennedy of CMTA Engineering and architect Kevin Godshall, who walked the Board through the schematic design and images. The planned work includes a new synthetic turf multisport field, an upgraded track surface and drainage, lighting improvements, new home and away restrooms, concessions, ticketing booths, a new scoreboard, expanded bleachers and a press box, increased parking, improved access to the softball field and a new location for the Facilities Department.
Kennedy said schematic design and development are finished and that the district expects to spend the next six months on land development and permitting, then seek bids in October or November with construction starting early next year. The district’s goal is to have the field, grandstands and concessions completed for the first football game at the end of August 2027, while some facility work under the bleachers may continue into October. Commissioner Robert Mohollen said the Fire Marshal will be involved during land development review to ensure emergency access and clearances.
Pottsgrove School District representatives in the meeting included Business Administrator Ron Linke and Superintendent Dr. David Finnerty, who thanked the Township for hearing the project and emphasized the district’s interest in community use of the facility for tournaments, fund-raisers and other events. A member of the public, Tom Troutman, asked whether the project addressed baseball and soccer; Dr. Finnerty said the turf will be lined for football, lacrosse, soccer and field hockey and will accommodate marching band and other uses. The Board did not take formal action on the presentation at this meeting.
