Lower Pottsgrove hears update on $1.7 million plan for inclusive playground

The Lower Pottsgrove Township Board of Commissioners on March 19 heard an update from Adventure Grove on fundraising and design for a proposed inclusive playground at Sanatoga Park estimated to cost $1.7 million. Representatives said the group has updated its conceptual plan and is pursuing outside grants while applying its own fundraising to engineering and preparatory costs.
Pam Ball, speaking for Adventure Grove, reviewed 2025 fundraisers and described 2026 plans and a revised equipment layout intended to keep the project within the same price range. Commissioner William Keohane said the township expects the project to rely on multiple grants and private donations and noted that last fall Adventure Grove submitted a Local Share Account (LSA) grant request for $1 million. According to the group, Ms. Tricia McCloskey is preparing a Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) grant request for $368,000 and a Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) request for $250,000.
Manager Edward C. Wagner said he and Commissioner Keohane requested a letter of support from Representative Joe Ciresi and will follow up; he also offered to share Adventure Grove fundraising information on the Township website, social media and the Sanatoga Green sign. President Michael McGroarty thanked Adventure Grove representatives Patti Grimm, Pam Ball and Charlie Valentine for their work and recognized local supporters identified in the meeting.
The Board did not take formal action on the playground at the March 19 meeting. Adventure Grove’s fundraising and the status of state grant applications will determine the project timeline and next steps. The Township open house scheduled for April 18 was presented as an opportunity to raise awareness of the project.
