Town approves $5,000 fireworks contract for Christmas in the Park; residents raise creek debris and concert logistics

The Town of Union Board on Dec. 3, 2025 authorized the Supervisor to accept and sign a Fireworks Exhibition Agreement with Young Explosives for Christmas in the Park in the amount of $5,000.
The prepared resolution from the Parks & Recreation Committee was moved by Councilman David Kudgus and seconded by Councilman Frank J. Bertoni; the board adopted the measure unanimously. The contract amount and vendor are recorded in the meeting minutes.
During the hearing of visitors, resident Steffie Engles told the board a creek behind her home at 630 Valley View Drive that runs along the golf course accumulates debris that affects her yard during rain and snow events. Supervisor Robert Mack said Highway Supervisor John Mase would inspect the creek and follow up with Engles.
Also, Robert Weinberger reported that he met with the Broome County Arts Council and requested a letter of agreement for Music at the Glen concerts at Glendale Park. Supervisor Mack advised Weinberger to submit his request and dates to the Parks Department; the parks office will forward requests to the clerks to be added to a future agenda.
Copies of the fireworks agreement and related resolutions are on file in the Town Clerk’s office.
