Oak Park MAC hears safety briefings; Supervisor Parks reports museum aid and coastal protection support

Oak Park residents heard public‑safety updates and county‑level news at the July 25 MAC meeting.
CHP Community Alliance Officer Gregg Musgrove said a speed‑feedback radar trailer was deployed on Kanan Road and that County Transportation was reviewing ways to boost awareness of Oak Park school zones. Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Senior Deputy Dave Brantley reported one vehicle burglary and one residential burglary over the prior month and cautioned residents not to deposit outgoing mail in group‑mailbox slots because of recent thefts.
Supervisor Linda Parks told the MAC that the Board of Supervisors voted to provide short‑term funding to the Ventura County Museum to address preservation and cataloguing of old county documents. The Board supported sending a letter in favor of a Channel Islands marine sanctuary and in opposition to new offshore drilling. Parks said news about a partnership to keep the Kanan Shuttle free for riders was expected in August and that the Board had requested LAFCo act to allow CSA #4 to fund a VIP program for Oak Park.
Council member Seema Chandra noted local concern over the impending closure of The Bean Scene after a Starbucks opened in the same shopping center. No public comments were offered during the public‑comment period.
