County planners seek input on General Plan vision; Oak Park Area Plan not part of current rewrite

County planning staff presented a proposed Vision and set of Guiding Principles for the Ventura County General Plan update and solicited public input at the Oak Park MAC meeting.
Shelley Sussman presented the materials and encouraged residents to submit comments. When asked whether the Oak Park Area Plan would be rewritten as part of this project, Sussman said that rewriting the Oak Park Area Plan was not included in the current scope. A resident asked how to obtain a 1974 court order that affected Oak Park development; Supervisor Parks said she would try to get a copy.
Janna Orkney asked about rezoning the Kanan Road right‑of‑way and suggested protecting median landscaping trees; Supervisor Parks suggested the MAC consider a future agenda item on establishing median landscape standards in the Oak Park Area Plan. Susan Curtis of the Planning Division clarified that the medians are part of the roadway and do not have separate zoning applied to them.
No vote was taken on the Vision and Guiding Principles at the meeting; the presentation served to inform the community and solicit feedback for the county General Plan update process.
