The Village of Bayside Architectural Review Committee on Sept. 16 unanimously approved a monument sign that exceeds local size limits and granted permits for several residential improvements, concluding a meeting that began at 5:00 p.m. and adjourned at 5:27 p.m.
Kami Brauer, director of design, appeared for the applicant on behalf of the property owner identified on the agenda as Dan Katz and described the proposed monument sign at 9001 North White Oak Lane as "14.5 feet wide by 10 feet high." Operations Coordinator Emma Baumgartner reported that the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Board of Trustees had approved the application despite the sign exceeding the dimensions in Section 116-6(7) of the Bayside Municipal Code; the committee approved the sign with the condition that the lower portion of the sign be limited to two interchangeable phrases: "Luxury Apartments Now Leasing" and "1,2 & 3 Bedrooms for Rent." Trustee Ben Minkin moved the approval; Committee Member Marisa Roberts seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
At 717 East Bay Point Road, Russell Barron, guardian, described a permanent ramp to access the home. Trustee Minkin asked whether the photo in the packet reflected the intended permanent landscaping; Barron said the potted plants shown would be planted in the ground. Committee Member Roberts moved approval of the ramp subject to the required engineer plan; Trustee Minkin seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Perry Brown, contractor for Michael and Lynda Barth, described a 309-square-foot single-story addition at 9270 North Waverly Drive that will match the existing exterior colors and materials. Trustee Minkin moved approval; Roberts seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The agenda item for 1055 West Duchess Court (Ron Brahm) was tabled; no action or details are recorded in the minutes.
Ken Collins, homeowner, presented a plan for a staircase addition to the southeast porch and a 12-foot by 16-foot deck on the north side of his home at 202 West Brown Deer Road. Committee Member Dan Zitzer asked whether the staircase and deck materials would match; Collins confirmed they would. Trustee Minkin moved approval; Roberts seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Elise Poelking presented a plan for 185 lineal feet of 4-foot-high open arrowhead picket fence at 8927 North Mohawk Road. Committee Member Dan Zitzer moved approval; Committee Member Marisa Roberts seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
