Madison County reviews three kitchen renovation options for Madison Valley Manor

Madison County Commissioners on March 25 convened at Madison Valley Manor in Ennis to review three distinct kitchen renovation alternatives presented by A&E-SMA Design. Commissioners Ronald E. Nye (chair), Duke W. Gilman and William A. Todd attended the special meeting and discussed next steps for the project.

A&E-SMA Design representatives Becky Lawson and Jason Davis described the three options and outlined topics to be addressed as the project moves forward, including the associated costs, the anticipated bidding process and potential construction duration. Nursing-home staff—Nursing Home Administrator Christine Preece, Infection Preventionist Melissa Brummell, kitchen supervisor Chad Tree and dietary aide Sandahl Christensen—along with Grants Manager Shawna Lutgen and Nursing Home Foundation representative Joanne Galiger, participated in the walkthrough and offered operational input.

The commissioners directed that the renovation matter be placed on the county commissioners' agenda for Tuesday, March 31, 2026, for consideration and possible approval to proceed with bidding. A&E-SMA Design will provide bi-weekly updates to county staff and the commissioners as the design and procurement process advances. After adjourning at 2:36 p.m., attendees proceeded to the courthouse for a pre-bid walk-through.
