The commission approved minutes for the May 19 regular meeting and the May 26 work session. Commissioners authorized payment of claims numbered 149530 through 149605 totaling $495,684.86; Chair Kevin Hart noted that five large claims — Flying S Escrow (~$125,000) for the railroad building, Galle Plumbing (~$174,000) for wastewater blower replacements, Pine Cove Consulting ($27,400) for camera installation, and Trihydro ($11,800) for street repairs — made up about 71% of the total claims.
A task order amendment for immunization services (Task Order 26-07-4-31-112-0) was approved unanimously. The commission also approved several special-event permits: an outdoor worship gathering at Beaverdam Park (July 19, pending certificate of insurance; carried 4-1 with Commissioner Beaudette dissenting), the Marcus Daly statue unveiling (June 26; carried 5-0), and a grand opening for Black Diamond Car Wash (June 6; carried 5-0). A proposal for boxing matches at A’s Stadium generated questions about alcohol service, insurance and liability; the item did not advance because no motion was made.
Commissioner Ed Beaudette moved, and the board approved, the appointment of Derick Budd as the Anaconda School District representative to the Urban Renewal Agency. In public comment, volunteer Rose Nyman thanked county staff for work on the Butte Anaconda Pacific administration office and called the archive idea a “dream come true.” Vern Tuss expressed concern about potential AI/data center development and the possibility of quick property transfers without public work sessions.
The meeting concluded with a reading of upcoming meeting dates and adjournment at 6:56 p.m.
