The Livingston Union School District board took multiple formal actions June 11, approving labor, election and policy items and routine contracts during a meeting that resulted in unanimous votes on key measures.
Trustees voted 4–0 to ratify the tentative Master Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Livingston Elementary Teachers Association (LETA), effective through June 30, 2029. The agreement includes a 3.5% increase to the certificated salary schedule and a $686.50 increase to the district’s annual health benefits cap, raising the district contribution to $18,948.50.
The board adopted Resolution No. 28 to call a governing board election in Trustee Areas 1, 2 and 4 and authorized the filing of the Notice of Election with the Merced County Registrar of Voters. The board also adopted Resolution No. 29 establishing that a tie vote in a governing board election will be resolved by lot as authorized by Education Code Section 5016. Both resolutions passed by 4–0 votes.
The consent agenda, approved with a correction to the May 14, 2026 minutes, included personnel items (Attachment A), encumbered purchase orders for June 2026, renewal of legal services with Dannis, Woliver, Kelley for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2028, and a SchoolWorks, Inc. contract to provide a demographic and enrollment analysis for $7,500 (Fund 40). The board approved the consent agenda by motion (Correia/Land).
Board members also approved revisions to several board policies and administrative regulations to comply with Senate Bill 848, covering recruitment and selection, criminal record checks, personnel files, and child abuse prevention and reporting (BP 4111/4211/4311; AR 4112.5/4212.5/4312.5; AR 4112.6/4212.6/4312.6; BP/AR 5141.4). The motion to adopt the policy revisions carried 4–0.
In an action reported out of closed session, the board approved a stipulated expulsion (Case No. 03-2526-25127), expelling a student for the remainder of the 2025–26 school year and the first two trimesters of 2026–27; the student is to be provided alternative education at Atwater Valley Community School with possible return to Livingston Middle in February 2027 contingent on completion of a rehabilitation plan. The motion passed 4–0.
During an informational financial update, district financial advisor Albert Peché reported that investment earnings on 2024 Certificates of Participation (COP) project funds totaled $715,854; following bond-counsel advice the district qualified for the Small Issuer Exemption and may retain the earnings. That item was informational and did not require a vote.
The board adjourned at 7:14 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for June 16, 2026.
