The Peru town board presented a citation honoring Lincoln C. Sunderland for his work documenting local history and supporting community projects.
Historian Helen Nurska introduced Sunderland’s contributions, noting his three town-history books and the role his work played in the town’s historical records and the centennial. Janet Dupri spoke about Sunderland’s leadership with Apple Valley Senior Housing in the late 1970s and early 1980s and the project’s history of a 50-year loan approval and completed construction in 1980.
Sunderland accepted the recognition and spoke about his years teaching and serving the community. The board and audience applauded; the recognition was entered into the meeting record.
No action items were associated with the recognition; members and residents thanked Sunderland and his family for their contributions to town history.
