Two vendors submitted bids; Cassella offered the town access to a MetroStore container as a rental and a plan to leverage its customer base to expand participation, while the River Valley Regeneratives bid did not include the container but proposed coordination with the county health department and school cafeteria programs.
Board members discussed cost, storage options and ways to increase participation, including vendor outreach, flyers and leveraging vendor relationships. The board approved continuing the program on a one-year agreement with Cassella to allow the town another season to evaluate participation and costs before any longer-term commitment.
The resolution passed on a roll-call vote recorded in the minutes; the board directed staff to work with the vendor on outreach strategies and to return with updates after additional months of operation.
