Trenton council approves contracts, equipment purchases and multiple appointments

At its Jan. 8 meeting the Trenton City Council approved an ordinance clarifying Parks and Recreation Board appointments, authorized an ODOT resurfacing agreement with a city share of $685,999 and approved several equipment and contract purchases and appointments; all motions passed by roll call.
The Trenton City Council on Jan. 8 approved a slate of ordinances, appointments and procurement contracts, including an ODOT resurfacing agreement for State Route 73 and multiple purchases for city services.
Council approved a second-reading ordinance clarifying appointment and rotation rules for the Parks and Recreation Board and authorized cooperation with the Ohio Department of Transportation on PID No. 115754, a resurfacing project on State Route 73, with the City’s estimated share $685,999. The resolution to proceed with the ODOT project passed on roll call.
City staff also received authorization to contract for fiber-optic installation from the Public Works garage to the south water tower (not to exceed $169,395), to purchase 14 laptops (not to exceed $40,000) and 14 desktop computers (not to exceed $20,000), and to execute a variety of public-safety purchases: a financing agreement with Stryker for three Lifepak 35 units and four AEDs (five annual payments totaling $58,218.39 per payment) and purchase of nine sets of fire gear from Vogelpohl Fire Equipment for $45,671.17.
Engineering and park improvements included an $81,000 contract with Kleingers Group Inc. for design and survey work on the Hamilton–Trenton Road resurfacing project (ODOT PID 124961) and a $23,800 agreement with Robinson Fence Company to install 496 feet of guardrail and a 12-foot gate at Trenton Community Park.
Council ratified the election of Ryan Perry as mayor and Floyd Croucher as vice mayor, approved multiple board and commission appointments (including a Planning Commission seat for Councilman Austin Proffitt and Mr. Farmer’s appointment to the BZA), and approved appointments listed in Exhibit A.
All recorded motions passed by roll call; Council voted to excuse Councilman Nichols and tabled approval of Dec. 18 minutes until Jan. 22, 2026.
