At the Aug. 28 Clear Creek School District No. Re-1 board meeting, Amy Augustine, representing the enrollment task force, presented a multi-pronged plan the group developed over the summer to stabilize and grow district enrollment.
“We are collecting data. We are engaging and developing new engagement strategies to highlight the amazing attributes of this school and this school district,” Augustine told the board. She described a three-team structure — data, engagement and marketing — with roughly 46 parents, teachers and community members involved over the summer.
Key findings and proposed steps: The task force reported it has gathered interviews with families who have joined and left the district and is building structured surveys to identify enrollment drivers and barriers. The marketing team has produced “one-pager” flyers with parent testimonials and is working toward a social media strategy. The engagement team plans events and outreach to feeder preschools and private schools to better communicate district offerings. Augustine said inconsistent district communications erode trust and identified a need to institutionalize roles — for example, parent liaisons or PTA roles — so outreach survives year-to-year.
Why it matters: The district’s revenue depends heavily on enrollment, and board members said they want the long-range planning committee and district staff to help turn the task force’s ideas into sustained practice. Augustine said some initiatives require board support or school-level authority, such as cross-school marketing and changes to school processes.
Next steps: The task force will finalize surveys (which must be approved before distribution), pursue partnerships for data analysis (including a possible project with the University of Denver business school), and return with prioritized recommendations and cost estimates for institutionalizing outreach and communications.
