Union City Council discusses parking ordinance changes and defers zoning changes on small games of chance and pool placement

Council asked Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips to review Municipal Lot No. 2 for an angled-parking layout, and the council deferred final ordinance decisions until the solicitor reviews proposed language and provides legal guidance.
Separately, councilors discussed proposed zoning changes related to small games of chance and allowing pools in vacant adjoining lots. Members decided to delay those zoning deliberations until the solicitor is in attendance at a future meeting so legal implications can be evaluated.
The minutes record no public testimony on these items and show council chose to postpone any ordinance votes pending solicitor input. The matter will return to a future agenda with solicitor participation and follow-up staff analysis.
