The NorthlakeTown Council unanimously appointed seven residents to the Northlake Municipal Development District (MDD) on June 11 after a nominating subcommittee presented interview results.
The subcommittee — which included multiple council members — said each applicant was asked the same set of interview questions and that all were qualified. Council Member Fowler moved to appoint seven candidates for places 1 through 7: Hillary Simpson, Mercedes Bolen, Howard McGinnis, Darren Johnson, Laura Montini, Jody Boyd and Pete Kaczewski. The motion carried unanimously.
Subcommittee members said they recommended Hillary Simpson and Howard McGinnis for the MDD leadership positions and asked staff to convey that recommendation when the new board meets. The appointees are scheduled to meet next week.
Council praised the more formalized interview process and encouraged a similar approach for future board and commission appointments.
