At the April 9 Greenburgh Town Board meeting, council liaisons summarized recent work across housing, parks and public works.
Councilwoman Joy Haber, liaison to the Greenburgh Housing Authority, said the authority's Section 8 program earned "high performer" status for 2024, noted completed domestic hot-water upgrades, planned playgrounds on Maple and Oak streets for spring 2025 and reported a clean 2024 audit. She told the board the authority was awarded $582,000 from Westchester County for site improvements.
Councilwoman Ellen Hendricks and nature center staff presented a short video celebrating the nature center's 50th anniversary, described volunteer and education programs and previewed plans for a new welcome center and expanded adult programs.
Councilwoman Gina Jackson highlighted Public Works' recycling operations with a staff video. Public Works staff urged residents to fold and break down cardboard boxes and to tie bundles so crews can collect material more efficiently. Staff said irregular presentation of recycling at curbs increases handling time and costs and asked residents to follow posted recycling guidance on the town website.
These liaison reports combined performance, upcoming park improvements and practical guidance for residents; no board policy changes were proposed during the reports.
