Beauregard Parish School Board adopts FY2027 budget, continues stipends, appoints official journal and approves lease for community meals

The Beauregard Parish School Board at its June 11 regular meeting adopted the fiscal year ending 2027 budget after completing the public-notice, inspection and hearing requirements described in Louisiana Revised Statute 39:1307.
Miss Weldon moved to adopt the budget and Mr. Bowman seconded; the board approved the budget by voice vote. The superintendent had earlier reminded members the district will hold a separate public meeting about rolling forward two millages and that a two-thirds vote (seven members) will be required to adopt any rollforward.
The board also received the month’s financial reports; finance staff noted the district is closing the fiscal year, reported staff supplement disbursements (support staff supplement $3,753.98; certified staff $5,630.97) and a retiree disbursement of $33,551, and flagged a reconciliation issue between two sales-tax collection funds (an approximately $1,000,000 receipt in one fund versus roughly $500,000 in the other) that staff will investigate.
Other routine votes carried by voice vote: the board approved continuation of maintenance stipends for the 2026–27 year; it appointed Newsleader as the official board journal for the July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027 period consistent with the board’s reading of Louisiana Revised Statutes 43:141 and 43:150; and it approved a lease agreement with Trio Community Meals LLC to allow use of the Title I/MDIA cafeteria for senior meals from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, for $80 per month. The contract requires the contractor to maintain insurance (the text reads a comprehensive general liability policy with limits of $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate, and an automobile policy with a $2 million combined aggregate limit) and to name the board as an additional insured.
Board members moved and seconded each item and the motions carried by voice votes; no recorded roll-call tallies were read into the minutes at this meeting. The board adjourned following the approved items.
