Orange board approves pay-rate changes, labor agreements and appointments after executive session

Following an executive session June 10 on personnel and bargaining matters, the Orange Board of Selectmen took a series of formal votes on pay, collective bargaining and administrative items.
The board approved a new pay-rate schedule for non-union hourly and salaried town employees, with effective dates specified in the motion: camp personnel effective June 14 and most other adjustments effective with the first payroll in July. For employees on town health insurance, the board recorded changes to employee cost-sharing percentages as part of plan transitions.
The board also approved a tentative collective-bargaining agreement with the Orange Supervisors (UPSU Local 424 Unit 73) covering July 1, 2025–June 30, 2028, and accepted a tentative agreement with the Orange Police Department on a health-care benefit reopener tied to the same contract period. Separately, the board approved adoption of a high-deductible health plan with a health-savings-account option for non-union employees who wish to enroll; the motion included revised employee cost-sharing percentages.
In other formal actions, the board confirmed Jasper J. Jaser as the town's representative to the South Central Connecticut Regional Water District policy board, approved tax refunds totaling $1,767.43, authorized continued participation in the Hazway Central satellite collection program under a three-year commitment resolution, and corrected a veterans tax-exemption start date to Jan. 1, 2021 for a specific surviving-spouse case. Each item was moved, seconded and recorded as approved by the board.
