Sanilac County approves StormTrap system, body scanner, sheriff app and $1.8M bond payoff

The board also approved a 4-year agreement between OCV, LLC and the Sanilac County Sheriff's Office to provide a custom app tailored to the office and community at a cost not to exceed $36,828, to be funded from the inmate commissary fund. Separately, the board authorized purchase of a contraband-detection body scanner from OD Security North America at a cost not to exceed $130,000; the motion noted an additional annual warranty-extension cost of $8,750 beginning after five years and said the Sheriff's Office will pursue grant funding from MMRMA that could reimburse approximately one-third of the purchase price (about $43,333).
The board also authorized paying off the Medical Care Facility 2013 bond in an amount not to exceed $1.8 million, using General Fund resources, and approved a 14-year annual repayment schedule to the county at $120,000 per year beginning in 2024. The motion text includes two end-year references ("2024 through 2038 2037") in the minutes; that inconsistency was noted during discussion.
Other approved items included: approval of FY2017, FY2018 and FY2020 Section 5339 buses and bus facilities formula program paperwork; an agreement between Evergreen Park and the Sanilac County Road Commission for grading and limestone to the park entrance drive (not to exceed $10,000, funded from the parks millage); and authorization to post & fill a seasonal Animal Control census worker position (paygrade 1) with possible participation in Michigan Works' work experience program. All motions carried.
