The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously May 16 to adopt a resolution imposing the county's 2023 summer allocated property tax levy at 4.0482 mills, to be levied and collected on July 1, 2023. The action implements Public Act 357 of 2004 (MCL 211.44a) and reflects the millage after application of the Headlee millage reduction fraction.
The levy resolution instructs county treasurers who collect the state education tax to account for and deliver the total county allocated mills collected for 2023 in accordance with Public Act 357. The resolution also directs the County Treasurer to mail a copy of the resolution to the treasurers that collect the state education tax.
The roll call on the measure recorded Commissioners Ehardt, Ballard, Moody, Sarkella, Block, Lee and Heberling voting yes; no members voted against the resolution. The board declared the resolution adopted.
The measure maintains the county's allocated mills as required by state law and sets the administrative direction for local treasurers ahead of the July 1 levy date.
