Indian Trail honors Porter Ridge cheerleaders who helped pull motorist from burning car

The Indian Trail Town Council recognized Joella Meadows and Mandy Tar at its June 10 meeting for pulling a woman from a burning car and keeping her safe until emergency responders arrived.
Joella described the moment: "I just saw all the smoke start coming out of the car... flames came from underneath the car... I started honking... I pulled ahead of her and she got over to my car... I sat we sat her in my car and just made sure she was okay until like everybody got there." Council members presented the two students with plaques and praised their quick thinking.
Why it matters: Council highlighted the students' swift action as a community example and also noted both are members of the Porter Ridge cheer team that recently won a state championship.
