The Indian Trail Town Council on June 10 unanimously adopted a $32,178,654 fiscal year 2027 budget, Town Manager Adam Mlam told the council during his presentation.
Mlam summarized adjustments made since the manager’s recommended budget, saying the ordinance reflects clerical corrections and a revenue increase from ABC store proceeds. "Total budget for FY27 $32,178,654," he said. He told council the general fund stood at $27,632,065 and noted the budget is roughly 1 percent smaller than the amended FY26 budget.
The budget moves additional unrestricted intergovernmental funds — including the ABC allocation — into infrastructure and IT equipment, Mlam said, and reduces the town’s personnel share to about 19 percent of total expenditures. Council members asked about contingency, debt service and how much of the town’s savings could be applied to roads and sidewalks. Mlam confirmed there is approximately $2 million available that could be used for additional road or sidewalk work, but recommended preserving reserves.
Council member Marcus McIntyre praised staff and the new manager’s first budget presentation and trustees voted to adopt the ordinance without dissent. The vote followed a public comment period in which resident Richard Ser urged council to approve the budget and encouraged investment in a public‑facing economic development website.
The budget adoption concludes the council’s formal ordinance action for the year; Mlam said remaining work will include routine year‑end finance cleanups and continued CIP planning. The council did not identify any tax increase tied to the FY27 budget.
