The Monroeville Local Schools Board of Education on Oct. 20 approved a range of routine business items including an out-of-state Future Farmers of America trip, policy materials, service contracts, personnel appointments and several donations.
Scott Bauer presented the itinerary for the FFA National Convention trip to Indianapolis scheduled Oct. 28–Nov. 1, 2025; the board approved the trip on a motion by Helmstetter and second by Bemis. The board also approved the district’s English Language Learner handbook (motion by Helmstetter, second by Smith). The board approved an MOU with the Monroeville Teachers Association for a Junior High Fundraising Coordinator (covering July 1, 2024–June 30, 2027), noting it will require payment for the previous fiscal year plus the two years that follow and that individuals filling the supplemental role must be board approved.
Contracts and agreements approved included a services contract with the North Central Ohio Educational Service Center for hearing-impaired services for FY26, a North Point Educational Service Center quote for instructional coaching professional development, a College Credit Plus agreement with Terra State Community College for 2025–26, and a snow removal contract with Marett Snow Removal Inc. for the November–March season. The board also adopted the newest version of the Special Education Model Policies and Procedures.
Personnel actions approved included acceptance of several resignations (Jennifer Harvey, eSport advisor; Tracy Weis, Resident Educator Mentor; Deborah Smith, Preschool Special Ed Reports) and appointments or changes including a step movement for Pamela Owens (choir director), hiring of substitute bus driver Lori Leis and substitute custodian Lesley Cheek (pending paperwork), approval of Jennifer Meagrow as Resident Educator Mentor (prorated), a prorated $1,000 stipend for Tracy Weis for the Preschool Step Up to Quality stipend, and approval of Halena Shuttlesworth as a custodian (Step 5, effective Oct. 2, 2025). The board also approved Megan Elmlinger as an OPES 2.0 and OSCES evaluator.
The board accepted donations as listed in the agenda: $124 from The Watering Can Flower Farm for Homecoming; $1,500 from the American Red Cross for student scholarships; three Dollar General gift cards valued at $150 total from Donna Elmlinger for school supplies; and $120 from Congregational Community United Church of Christ to be applied to student lunch debts. The board also created Fund 007-9122 (Jump Memorial Scholarship).
Nearly all items were approved by unanimous roll-call votes recorded in the meeting minutes.
