Afton council renews liquor licenses, approves late-night event dates and conditions a malt-beverage permit

The Afton Town Council unanimously approved renewal applications for multiple retail and restaurant liquor licenses May 8 and approved local requests related to late-night events and a limited malt-beverage permit.
Town Clerk Lisa Hokanson said the Wyoming Liquor License Division had approved the renewal applications and Police Chief Jason Romberg stated he had no objections. The council approved retail renewals for Tailgaterz LLC (dba Tailgaterz Sports Bar), C & G LLC (dba A.J.'s Discount Liquor), Shelly's Cowboy Bar, LLC (dba Cowboy Bar), Colter's Lodge, Inc. (dba Colters Lodge), and Maverik Inc. (dba Maverik #355). The council also approved restaurant renewals for Jennifer M. Heggenstaller (dba Hegg's Grill & Steakhouse), Agave Mexican Restaurant, LLC (dba Agave Mexican Restaurant), and Habif Enterprises, LLC (dba Los Cabos Baja). Motions to approve the renewals carried unanimously.
Tammy Thompson, owner of Tailgaterz Sports Bar, raised the town ordinance that requires bars to close at 10:00 p.m. on Sundays and asked the council to consider extending Sunday hours. The council asked Town Attorney Dale Cottam and local bar owners to review the existing ordinance and present a drafted amendment at the next council meeting if changes are requested. Thompson also requested 'all-nighter' dates for July 21, 2018; August 18, 2018; December 31, 2018; and February 23, 2019; the council approved those dates by unanimous motion.
Mayor Neuenschwander presented an application from Ana Sosa for a limited malt-beverage permit for June 16, 2018, at the Lincoln County Fairground Exhibit building. Chief Romberg reported there were no prior issues with Ms. Sosa's permits; the council approved the permit conditioned on Ms. Sosa completing TIPS training.
The council’s actions allow the businesses to proceed under the renewed licenses and event dates; any formal ordinance change to Sunday hours will require a drafted amendment and council consideration.
