Monroeville Local board unanimously amends superintendent contract to clarify five-year salary schedule

The Monroeville Local Schools Board of Education on Oct. 20 unanimously approved an amendment to Superintendent Dr. Kristin Kaple-Jones’s contract that clarifies her five-year annual salary schedule. The action followed an executive session in which the board discussed personnel and compensation.
The board entered executive session at 7:40 p.m. under Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22 to discuss personnel matters and compensation and exited at 8:19 p.m. After the executive session, Board member Greg Schafer moved to amend the agenda; Mr. Helmstetter seconded the motion and the amendment carried on a roll-call vote with Bemis, Helmstetter, Ruggles, Schafer and Smith voting “aye.”
The amendment to Dr. Kaple-Jones’s contract specifies the following annual salary amounts: Year 1 — $123,614.63; Year 2 — $131,130.40; Year 3 — $139,103.13; Year 4 — $147,569.59; Year 5 — $156,532.28. The board recorded the approval by unanimous roll-call.
The superintendent remained identified in the meeting materials as Dr. Kristin Kaple-Jones. The board’s use of executive session to discuss compensation is permitted under the cited provision of the Ohio Revised Code. The meeting adjourned at 8:21 p.m.
