Greenfield council delays vote on garage-construction ordinance until July 6

Chairwoman Amie Ernst provided the third reading of Ordinance No. 19-2026, which amends Section 1105.27(b)(4) of the village code to modify limits on garages. Ernst moved to postpone the vote until the council's July 6 meeting; Councilwoman Margaret Mobley seconded and the motion carried on a 2-0 voice vote (yea: Mobley, Ernst). The council did not take a roll-call vote naming other members; Councilman David Weaks had been excused from this meeting.
The postponement means the ordinance will return to the council's agenda on July 6 for further debate and a potential final vote. At the same meeting Ernst also presented additional readings: the second reading of Resolution No. 3-2026 (authorizing the purchase of real estate and appropriating funds) and first readings of Ordinance No. 20-2026 (appointing the Village Solicitor) and Resolution No. 5-2026 (adopting a cybersecurity program). Motions to receive those readings were seconded and carried.
No formal public testimony on Ordinance No. 19-2026 was recorded in the minutes for May 18. The council clerk's record shows the item will remain on the agenda for the July 6 session, when members will have another opportunity to debate and vote on the proposed code change.
