The board approved a resolution authorizing submission of a Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program grant application totaling $192,397.50, with a township match of $33,000, to fund trail rehabilitation and a parking‑lot expansion. Township staff said award notifications are expected in late autumn and that construction would occur the following year if funded.
Public safety reports showed active service demand. Mr. Evans reported 272 EMS dispatches in May: 199 from the main station and 83 from the substation, with a number of transports to area hospitals. The fire department reported 58 calls in April–May, including a high number of alarms and multiple structure and vehicle incidents.
Staff said a tanker requiring repairs is back from Pittsburgh with anticipated costs around $135,000; the township has begun paperwork for a DCED/DCB grant routed through Representative Bradford's office to offset the expense. The board also announced a community 'Touch a Truck' event on Aug. 20 and the annual 'Miles for Mark' Memorial 5K on Oct. 3.
Infrastructure updates included video inspection of corrugated metal storm pipes at the Skip/Route 73 intersection, where the bottom of aging pipes has rotted and allowed sediment and washout. Mr. Wood said the video inspection will inform a repair plan expected in a few weeks and that township funds exist in a road‑repair line item to address emergencies.
