Audubon mayor cites NJDOT awards, commends fire response and seeks public ideas for 250th

Mayor Robert A. Jakubowski reported several community updates at the Nov. 17 borough commissioners meeting, including a recently posted NJDOT Municipal Aid award, a house fire response with no injuries, and a request for public input on the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
Jakubowski said the borough will receive more than $260,000 in NJDOT Municipal Aid to finish work on South Davis and to support projects on Irvin Avenue and Bringhurst Avenue. He commended the fire department for its response to a house fire earlier that day, noting there were no injuries and the cause remained under investigation.
On community celebration planning, Jakubowski said he wants to leave a “permanent reminder” marking the nation’s 250th anniversary and invited residents to send ideas via the borough email, speak to him in person or respond to a forthcoming Facebook post and coverage in the Retrospect. “I would very much like to hear from you all,” he said.
Jakubowski also noted a police academy graduation scheduled for Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. and encouraged attendance. The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
The remarks were part of routine commissioner reports and did not prompt formal direction or votes recorded in the minutes.
