Perquimans County Board approves consent items, personnel changes and bank updates; no public comments

The Perquimans County Board of Commissioners approved routine consent and personnel items, authorized bank signature updates and sold surplus property at its Jan. 5 meeting.
Under the Consent Agenda the board approved the Dec. 1, 2025 minutes and several tax refunds and releases. Personnel actions approved include the reclassification of Brandon Shoaf as County Manager with a salary of $119,848 effective Jan. 1, 2026, multiple reclassifications and merit/step increases across EMS, DSS, Sheriff and other departments, and accepted retirements and resignations noted in the minutes.
Commissioners approved a resolution to add County Manager Brandon Shoaf to PNC Central Depository, PNC credit cards and First National Bank investment account signature cards. The board also approved the sale of a surplus 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer (VIN #4524) on GovDeals for $2,175.00. There were no public comments and a scheduled closed session to discuss personnel matters was canceled; the meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
Commissioner Joseph W. Hoffler offered public praise for a Sheriff's deputy during the Commissioners' remarks; no formal action followed.
