Cascade High School graduates 135 seniors; district highlights scholarships and post‑secondary outcomes

Board members heard a summary of Cascade High School’s graduation and senior outcomes. Guidance reported that 135 seniors completed diploma requirements and all walked at the ceremony. Administrators said the class earned approximately $2.6 million in scholarships and other post‑secondary assistance; partnerships with Ivy Tech and Indiana University yielded a combined estimated family savings of about $378,000 in tuition through dual‑credit agreements.

The presentation broke down diploma types and post‑graduation plans: 75 students earned academic honors diplomas, 36 earned technical honors diplomas, 23 earned both, and a mix of Core 40 and other diploma types were reported. Staff said 82 graduates committed to post‑secondary education, four to two‑year colleges, 21 to vocational or technical apprenticeships, nine to military service, and 19 to entering the workforce directly. Administrators also noted participation in dual credit and work‑based learning programs, with dozens of students earning college credit or workplace experience.

Board members and staff used the meeting’s celebratory segment to thank teachers, recognize staff award winners (teacher of the year Patricia Rutherford and staff member of the year Brady Woods), and note other awards: Aydah Stoie was recognized as a middle school counselor of the year and received an additional award at a statewide conference for her ambassador program. Trustees congratulated coaches and staff for the culture that supported the graduating class.

Administrators said they will include more complete SAT, dual‑credit and year‑over‑year data in future reports.
