North Royalton council appoints David Quolke as Ward 4 representative

David Quolke was appointed Ward 4 Council Representative by the North Royalton City Council in a 5-1 roll call vote during a May 29 special meeting at City Hall. Council President Mary Gorjanc announced the appointment after the council reconvened from an executive session.
Council President Mary Gorjanc instructed the Clerk of Council to have each council member state their choice aloud, saying, “At this time will the Clerk of Council please ask each Council Representative to vote their candidate of choice by stating the candidate's name.” She also noted that “the successful candidate must have four (4) affirmative votes.” The council had recessed into an executive session earlier the same evening under ORC 121.22(G)(1) to consider the appointment.
The roll call of stated votes was: Mary Gorjanc — David Quolke; Matt Coleman — David Quolke; Gary Petrusky — David Quolke; Sarah Wojslaw — David Quolke; Kaylee Green — David Quolke; Ed Cyngier — Robert Rybak. With five votes for Quolke and one for Rybak, the council announced David Quolke as the new Ward 4 representative and Gorjanc congratulated him. Mr. Marnecheck also thanked all applicants for their willingness to serve and their professionalism.
The meeting was called to order at 5:17 p.m., recessed into executive session at 5:19 p.m., reconvened at 5:34 p.m., and adjourned at 5:37 p.m. Clerk of Council Helen Dunlap read the notice of the special meeting before the executive session. The executive session was held under ORC 121.22(G)(1); Dunlap and Confidential Secretary Karin Foltzer were invited into that session with council.
A motion to adjourn was moved by Council President Mary Gorjanc, seconded by Council Representative Gary Petrusky, and carried by roll call. The council thanked the applicants and encouraged continued community engagement.
