Pembroke board reviews sewer, water and highway updates; zoning hearing set for June 11

At its May 28, 2026 meeting, the Pembroke Town Board received several infrastructure and operations updates. The minutes report that Flying J is moving forward with plans to connect to the town sewer line; those plans have been forwarded to the Camden Group for review and the project is hoped to begin in June or July. The minutes do not attribute the update to a specific speaker.
The board recorded that MCWA approved plans for Water District #4; the town is awaiting U.S. Department of Agriculture approval before putting the district out to bid. Because of project size and contractor bonding limits, the town intends to issue the work as two separate bids. The minutes also note the town plans to apply for a WIIA grant in October to support Water District #5 after bids previously exceeded grant funding awarded to the town.
Supervisor Thomas Schneider reported that Jay Grasso has been pursuing grant opportunities for the town and that a public workshop for landlords was held in April. Highway Superintendent Scott Turner said his crew has finished painting equipment and is mowing and spraying weeds around signs; Turner added he will attend highway school "from Sunday to Wednesday next week" (dates not specified in the minutes). The board also noted the town park has been unusually wet, affecting athletic group schedules.
On personnel matters, Supervisor Schneider said Joe Meachum may be interested in the Planning Board chairman position; the minutes state alternate Elizabeth Gabbey will fill the seat left by Dave Knupfer and that the town will need to hire a new alternate.
