Thermopolis council approves parade permit, signs off on minutes and bills; WYDOT plans resurfacing

The Thermopolis Town Council on Feb. 3 approved several routine items and a permit for a public event, and heard brief updates on state transportation projects.
Council approved the meeting agenda (motion by John Dorman Sr., seconded by Rachel Hughes) and accepted minutes from Jan. 6 and Jan. 20, 2026 (motion by Tony Larson, seconded by Dusty Lewis). The council also approved January 2026 General, Enterprise and Special Fund bills (motion by Dusty Lewis, seconded by Rachel Hughes); the minutes include an itemized bills list and payroll entries.
During citizen participation, Frank Davis requested a police escort for a motorcycle awareness parade scheduled for May 2, 2026 at noon. The council approved the request and a temporary closure of 5th Street from Broadway south to the alley (Farmers Market area) from noon to 2 p.m. (motion by Tony Larson, seconded by Rachel Hughes). The council recorded no public opposition in the meeting minutes.
Administratively, Jim Jeunehomme reported WYDOT is studying the Wind River Canyon corridor for redundant routes to the Big Horn Basin and said WYDOT plans to resurface Highway 120 (Broadway) in 2027. Mayor Adam Estenson noted Congresswoman Hageman recently toured 14th Street, the transfer station site and the water treatment plant as the town seeks federal grant assistance. At 7:22 p.m. the council adjourned; its next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 17, 2026, at 7 p.m.
