Jail Administrator Angie Siebken told the Butler County Board of Supervisors on June 1 that the county received one sealed bid from Sydaptic to replace the jail’s 22-year-old control and intercom system. The bid came after a Texas-based representative inspected the facility and quoted $164,680.
Siebken said the current system has multiple operational problems: intercoms for dispatch do not work and one cell door reports “open” even when closed. She noted $170,000 is held in the county’s sinking fund for this project.
Chairman Scott Steager asked Siebken to review the Sydaptic bid and proposed contract with County Attorney Julie Reiter; the board did not award the contract at the June 1 meeting and tabled the matter until the next meeting pending legal review.
