County Assessor Vickie Donoghue briefed the Butler County Board of Supervisors on June 1 about a proposed subscription to Pictometry/EagleView aerial-imagery services, saying she polled other county offices and received written support for the product’s usefulness.
Donoghue said Emergency Manager Mark Doehling, Weed Superintendent Max Birkel, County Surveyor Brian Foral, 911 Coordinator Sharon Codr, Highway Superintendent Randy Isham, Associate Extension Educator Katie Larson, and County Sheriff Tom Dion all attested to the usefulness of the imagery. She compared Polk County’s 2024 images with 2025 Pictometry images as part of her presentation and reported a vendor cost estimate of $46,500 per year for a three-year agreement.
Chairman Scott Steager asked Assessor Donoghue to invite EagleView District Manager Ryan Poots to a future board meeting to present the proposed service agreement and answer questions. No procurement decision or vote was taken at the June 1 meeting.
Why it matters: countywide, up-to-date aerial imagery can aid emergency management, surveying, weed control and 911 response by providing recent orthoimagery and oblique views that some county departments indicated they would use. Funding and contract terms were not discussed in detail and remain to be negotiated.
Next steps: EagleView’s district manager has been requested to attend a future meeting to present contract details and answer questions; no commitment to purchase was recorded.
