Wyoming State Bar to delay LSAC’s Foundations for Practice survey until after its own member survey

Zack DeMeola, Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Law School Admission Council (LSAC), joined the Wyoming State Bar Board via Zoom on April 11 to present the Foundations 2.0 project, a national survey to update lawyers’ practice‑readiness data.
DeMeola said the survey builds on a 2014 effort and is intended to inform law‑school curricula and professional‑readiness initiatives; participating bars receive a preliminary report and the ability to isolate state responses. Bar Counsel Mark W. Gifford and Executive Director Sharon Wilkinson expressed concern about member survey fatigue because the Bar was about to send its own 2025 member survey for strategic planning.
After discussion the Board voted that the Bar will distribute the LSAC Foundations survey after completing its own Member Survey. Commissioner Clayton M. Melinkovich moved to delay distribution; President‑Elect P. Craig Silva seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Why this matters: Foundations 2.0 promises comparative, multi‑state data on practice readiness, but thoughtful timing is necessary to protect response rates for both surveys. The Bar will receive a preliminary, state‑specific report from LSAC once members respond.
