Council expresses liability, staffing and cost concerns about proposed community ice rink

A council member said they had discussed liability with the village solicitor, Matt, and were told the village would not receive special recreational immunity; liability exposure would be comparable to allowing Little League activities on village property. That legal guidance, combined with staffing and storage uncertainties, led several council members to recommend the village decline to provide the level of assistance requested; they said staff could help facilitate a short trial run if the organizers contracted and operated the rink themselves.
