Urbana council authorizes FAA AIG grant application, approves $29,700 Stantec study

Urbana City Council voted June 18 to authorize the administration to submit a final application for the FAA FY2024 Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) and to execute required contracts. The motion (Resolution 2694-24) passed 7-0.
In related action, the Board of Control recommendation to issue a purchase order to Stantec Consulting Services, Inc. in the amount of $29,700 for government applications, a hangar roof replacement study and related services for the FAA AIG project at Urbana Grimes Airport was placed on the floor and approved. Director of Administration Kerry Brugger said the city will front the initial costs and be reimbursed through the FAA grants; at project completion the city would be responsible for approximately 5% of the total project cost. Brugger summarized the planned funding split: "The FAA's share would be 90%, the State's share would be 5% and the City would be responsible for 5%."
Council approved both the grant application authorization and the Stantec purchase order by roll call vote. The administration and airport staff will proceed with the study and grant application, and will return to council for further contracting or budget adjustments as needed.
