During new business, the council voted to pay $160 to a resident who experienced tire damage after striking a known broken valve on Young Street; the council approved the payment on a roll call recorded as unanimous. The council also approved the reclassification of Dusty Wallace from Public Works Employee I to Public Works Employee II, with no immediate pay change until after an annual evaluation.
Other operational items discussed included plans to file splash-pad exemption paperwork, a Moeller Door quote for an accessible entrance (a councilor asked staff to verify the door’s handicapped compliance before approval), and Matt’s Animal Control offering a one-year bat-free warranty to be carried out after hours.
The council did not take any additional votes on the communications-tower tax issue at the Aug. 27 meeting; Kessler said paperwork review is ongoing and that the Village may not recover taxes already paid if an exemption later applies.
