Bayside to move planter bed to improve sign visibility; hydrangea color chosen

The Village of Bayside’s Architectural Review Committee unanimously approved a Village‑led landscape restoration project to improve visibility of the Bayside sign on North Lake Drive.
Shane Albers, director of public works, told the committee the proposal would move the current landscape bed 150 feet northbound and construct a new planter bed that "will also match the two planter beds that were installed last year at Broadmoor and Port Washington Rd." He said the overall structure size will be 10 feet and that the existing sign will be reused.
Acting Chairperson and Trustee Liaison Ben Minkin asked about the hydrangea color; Albers said, "they are envisioning a blue hydrangea tree to match the Bayside sign." Committee Member Zitzer confirmed questions about the sign reuse, and with a motion by Minkin, seconded by Zitzer, the committee approved the project as presented.
The vote concludes the committee review; the project will move forward under Village public works oversight, with no additional conditions recorded in the minutes.
