The Village of Bayside Architectural Review Committee held a preliminary review May 5 of plans for a 732-square-foot first-floor addition and a 210-square-foot wooden deck at 8445 North Fielding Road. Homeowner Yavuz Taneli described the proposed addition and said the design will match existing windows, doors and siding; he said he is still deciding whether to repaint existing features to match the new addition.
Assistant to the Village Manager Emma Baumgartner reminded the committee that the presentation was for discussion only and that no approval was required at this stage. Committee Member Marisa Roberts asked whether steps shown beneath the addition were intended for basement access; Dr. Taneli said they would provide basement access. Trustee Liaison Ben Minkin and others urged that matching the addition and existing home in color would be preferable, though Taneli did not commit to a final paint choice at the meeting.
Taneli also noted that a tree that previously stood where the addition is proposed had split in half and already been removed. Because the review was preliminary, the committee recorded clarifying details but took no formal action; any permit application or final approval will come later when the applicant submits final materials and specifications.
Next steps: the applicant may return with finalized material and color choices if required by the application process; no approvals or conditions were recorded at the May 5 meeting.
