Sunrise Engineering updates projects; road resurfacing scheduled next week

Kade Smith of Sunrise Engineering briefed the Thayne Town Council on three utility- and wastewater-related projects and staff provided a schedule for local road resurfacing.
Smith said the East Booster generator has a 20-week lead time; the contractor plans to pour the concrete pad and complete most preparatory work so installation can proceed quickly once the generator arrives. Engineering design work on the North Sewer Line has begun, and Smith planned a meeting with Mayor Devin Simpson and Cliff Eggleston to review alignment before presenting options to affected landowners. He also reported a flow meter was installed in April before the Robert Street lagoons to collect continuous flow data and help detect groundwater infiltration; BOD testing is also underway to establish baseline spring and summer flows.
Cliff Eggleston reported the contractor will resurface the community center parking lot and Wright Street on Monday, then Van Noy, Osmond and Heath streets on Tuesday. The council discussed temporarily closing the community-center parking lot to allow proper curing and agreed staff will notify affected businesses and services, including the DMV, library and food bank.
Mayor Devin Simpson invited councilmembers to attend an 11:00 a.m. meeting the following day on the North Sewer Line alignment.
