Thayne council adopts Master Plan; delays third reading of zoning ordinance changes

The Thayne Town Council approved the Town of Thayne Master Plan on third reading during its Aug. 20 meeting. Mayor Simpson explained that the master plan, developed from meetings last September, is necessary for grant applications and outlines the town’s long‑term goals. The motion to approve the plan carried unanimously.
Separately, Mayor Simpson reviewed proposed amendments in Ordinance No. 407 to Chapter 10 of the Thayne Municipal Code. Key topics in the proposed changes included allowing travel trailers on AR1 lots as accessory dwelling units, clarifying subdivision development phases, updating sign requirements, and adding AR3 zoning to permit fourplexes and townhouses intended to expand affordable housing options. After discussion the council laid back the third reading of Ordinance No. 407 to allow further review and adjustments.
Councilmembers did not complete final action on Ordinance No. 407, indicating stakeholders will have additional time for comment and staff will likely return revised language at a future meeting.
