The Manitou Springs City Council appointed Julie Kapoor as an alternate member of the Housing Advisory Board at its April 21 meeting after a packet recommendation from Allison Gerbig, chair of the board.
Gerbig told the council the candidate had attended several board meetings and brought experience and enthusiasm for housing affordability. The candidate, who identified herself from the podium, summarized past executive‑director experience managing transitional housing organizations and running a rapid‑rehousing program through Catholic Charities, noting management of property assets and private‑fund partnerships.
Councilors expressed appreciation for the candidate stepping forward to volunteer. A motion to appoint the alternate to the Housing Advisory Board was made, seconded and carried unanimously.
The appointee will serve as an alternate member and participate in advisory board meetings per board bylaws.
