Cridersville fiscal officer resigns; council contracts outgoing officer and posts job

Cridersville — Fiscal Officer Taylor West informed council she submitted two weeks’ notice after accepting a job with the Village of Minster beginning Jan. 20. Council thanked West for her service and approved a temporary contracting arrangement while it recruits a replacement.
Council President Eric West disclosed the fiscal officer’s resignation and a motion by Dylan Lauck to contract West on a bi-weekly basis at her current pay rate until both parties agree to transition her to independent-contractor status. The motion passed 5-0 with Council President West abstaining.
Council asked that West continue to attend council meetings, manage revenue and expenses, handle payroll and participate in the hiring process for the next fiscal officer; she may set her own hours and work remotely as needed. The council voted to post the fiscal officer opening immediately with a salary range of $45,000 to $70,000 depending on experience.
"We would like to get the job posted ASAP with the pay range being $45,000 to $70,000 based on experience," Council President West said. The council emphasized the need to post quickly because municipal accounting candidates often compete with private-sector positions.
No timeline for selecting a successor was recorded at the meeting; council directed staff to post the job and to continue operating the fiscal office through the transition.
