Dunkirk officials note July 1 critical dig, EPA planning materials and anticipated October construction start

Superintendent Hackworth told the Board on June 24 that a critical dig was scheduled for July 1 despite earlier requests not to plan work that week. He said Vaughn, an AEP contractor, scheduled the work; Richard Walden of Sheldon Gas will have someone on site to assist if a gas line is struck. Board member Drake volunteered to check on the work that day; Hackworth briefed him on steps to follow if utilities are hit.

Fiscal Officer Spencer reported multiple pieces of EPA-related correspondence and materials circulated to the board, including a request from Seth Rosselit for a report to prepare the EPA-required list discussed at the June 10 meeting, plan revisions from Dana Martin-Hayden (EPA) and coordination with Austin Prokup, and an updated service line inventory from Spenser Haines (EPA). Spencer said the "EPA – 2025 DWAF program management plan" was sent to all members for review.

Ben Schroeder of Wessler told the board he anticipates a construction start date of October 1, 2024, for the referenced project. Separately, Hackworth described repeated vandalism of the park's no-touch restroom units; staff removed the touchless fixtures and posted signs directing patrons to the alternative manual button. He also reported repairing a sink hole reported by resident Greg Hinebaugh and purchasing a dehumidifier for the plant earlier in the day, though staff were unsure whether the unit was the correct model.

Board members did not take formal action on the EPA materials or construction schedule at the meeting; the materials were distributed for review and administrative follow-up.
